Former Sewing Factor Employee, Cook, Was Covington ResidentMarlene Bogar Wolfe, 68, of 105 Hallies Road, Covington, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday. Wolfe was born April 18, 1954 in Alleghany County, a daughter of the late Jacob and Lillian Wright Bogar. A lifetime resident of this community, she was a homemaker. Mrs. Simmons was born October 15, 1938 in Covington, the daughter of the late John Lewis Leighton and Carlena Lee Leighton.
Friday, December 16, 2022 at Harrison Funeral Home by Randolph Hare. William's family will receive friends for the hour prior to the service. The service will be conducted by Scott Covington and Derek Keiser. She is survived by one son, Warren Lee; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She grew up in Buena Vista, and in 1962 met James Oliver in Buena Vista and married him later that year. In 1968 she moved to Woodbridge, where they purchased a house.

She was a voracious reader, loved to garden, travel, take beach vacations, and spend time with family and friends. She taught Sunday School for many years and loved serving the Lord. She will be remembered for her keen sense of humor, her giving nature, and her love of God and family. Fudge St., Covington, Virginia, passed away on Monday December 12, 2022 at Lewis Gale Alleghany Regional Hospital in Low Moor.Mr. Staton was born on August 4, 1951, in Thomasville, NC a son of the late Jessie Staton Sr. and Sarah Smith Staton. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Arritt Funeral Home.

Buena Vista Resident Dies At Age 63Cynthia Gail Hamlett, 63, of Buena Vista, Virginia, passed away peacefully at Heritage Hall following a long battle with breast cancer on Monday, December 5, 2022.She was born December 4, 1959 in Lexington, the daughter of John Smith and the late Edith Worth Smith. Surviving are his wife, Claudia Fortune; son, Chris Fortune; and four grandchildren. Frank enjoyed his work and farming as well as spraying weeds. He loved his family and especially treasured time spent giving tractor rides to his grandkids and great grandkids. In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by two brothers, Robert Hepler and William Hepler. Survivors include his children, Michael Harrah of Asbury, WV, and Melissa Garrett of Roanoke, VA; brothers, Pat Harrah of Covington, VA, and Paul Harrah of Arizona; grandchildren, Stephanie, Sydnie, Jaime, Shannon, Holly, Ian and Maddy; great grandchildren, Mariah and Dylan; several nieces, and nephews.
William is preceded in death by his parents and a special aunt, Annie Wood Thompson.
